MSC Cruises Orders Two Additional World-Class Ships, Eyes Middle East Growth

MSC Cruises in Arabian Gulf

MSC Cruises has expanded its future fleet, signing an agreement with Chantiers de l’Atlantique for two more World-Class cruise vessels. The order increases the total planned World-Class ships to eight, bolstering the line’s capacity for anticipated global and regional demand.
This move is significant for the Middle East, where MSC has consistently grown its winter presence, especially in the GCC. With more advanced ships expected to debut from 2027 onwards, analysts predict these vessels could be slated for Arabian Gulf itineraries in the coming years, aligning with Dubai and Abu Dhabi’s ambitions as homeport leaders.
The World-Class series is known for integrating high-capacity berths and next-generation environmental technologies. MSC’s order comes as the region’s cruise sector eyes further growth, particularly with local and international demand rebounding after pandemic-era disruption.
An MSC spokesperson commented, “This partnership extension solidifies our commitment to offer premium cruise experiences while expanding into new and existing markets.”
The announcement is viewed as a strategic signal for the Middle East’s importance in future cruise deployments, with ports across the Gulf ideally suited to accommodate large-capacity vessels throughout the peak season.
