14 AUGUST 2026: Havila Voyages has launched a collaboration with B Corp-certified Ocean Bottle, introducing a specially designed reusable bottle that guests can purchase in the onboard shop aboard its coastal cruise ships.
The Havila-branded bottle features a map of the Norwegian coastline, highlighting key landmarks and all 34 ports on the Bergen to Kirkenes route. Each purchase funds the collection of 11.4kg of plastic before it reaches the ocean, an amount equivalent in weight to 1,000 plastic bottles.
Bottle Designed Around the Norwegian Coast
The reusable bottle is made from 90% recycled stainless steel, is dishwasher safe and has a dual-opening system. Its design incorporates the Norwegian coastal route travelled by Havila Voyages.
The collaboration follows Havila Voyages’ removal of single-use plastics across its fleet. The company said the partnership provides guests with an additional way to support plastic collection while using a functional, long-lasting souvenir.
“At Ocean Bottle, our mission has always been clear: to prevent plastic from reaching the ocean while driving real impact for people and the planet. The alignment between our values and those at Havila Voyages meant this partnership felt completely natural. Together, we have an opportunity to make reuse a central part of the travel experience while creating tangible impact for coastal communities and the ocean,” explains Will Pearson, Co-Founder at Ocean Bottle.
Ocean Bottle Links Purchases to Plastic Collection
Ocean Bottle manufactures reusable drinkware and funds plastic collection through each product sold. For the Havila edition, every purchase contributes to the collection of 11.4kg of plastic before it reaches the ocean.
Pearson also highlighted the company’s links to Norway and the Scandinavian origins of the bottle design. “Many of Ocean Bottle’s roots are in Norway: our bottles were designed with Scandinavian precision and built to last. I’m also half Norwegian, and my love for the outdoors and connection to the water sparked while growing up here. We’re inspired by the power of collective action and look forward to scaling our partnership with Havila even further, helping more people experience the magic of Norway’s incredible coastline while playing their part in protecting it,” Pearson says.
Partnership Forms Part of Havila Environmental Strategy
Havila Voyages said the collaboration forms part of its environmental strategy, with a focus on recycled materials, reducing waste and supporting the interception of plastic along coastlines.
“Our ships glide through some of the most vulnerable ecosystems in the world, and we carry a profound responsibility to protect them,” explains Lasse A. Vangstein, Chief Communications & Sustainability Officer at Havila Voyages.
“Sustainability is not a solo project. Together, we can achieve more, and this cooperation with Ocean Bottle proves that tourism can act as a catalyst for positive global change. Our guests don’t just take home memories of the world’s most beautiful coastal voyage; they take home a tool that can make a real difference for the planet,” Vangstein concludes.
Havila Fleet Operates Along Norwegian Coast
Havila Voyages operates four ships on the coastal route between Bergen and Kirkenes. The vessels use battery systems that can support up to four hours of sailing without noise or emissions, with the batteries charged using hydropower from shore.
The ships use natural gas when battery power is low, which Havila Voyages says reduces CO2 emissions by around 35%. The company also uses energy-efficient hull designs, recovers excess heat for onboard heating and avoids unnecessary plastic.”
