Azamara Partners with Premier Golf for 2028 Golf Sailings

Azamara Cruises

ALPHARETTA, Georgia25 June 2026 Azamara Cruises and Premier Golf have announced a global partnership that will introduce dedicated golf sailings across several international cruise regions.

According to the official announcement, the programme will combine Azamara’s destination-focused itineraries with golf packages developed by Premier Golf. The planned sailings will cover North America, Europe, Britain and Ireland, Australasia, South America and the Mediterranean.

Selected cruises will offer access to established golf courses ashore, supported by onboard golf programming and optional resort stays before or after the voyage.

Golf cruises planned across multiple regions

The partnership has been designed for individual golf enthusiasts, PGA Professionals, golf clubs and affinity groups seeking to combine cruise travel with organised rounds at selected courses.

Premier Golf will curate the golf components available on participating Azamara sailings. Courses identified in the announcement include Seven Mile Beach Golf Course in Tasmania, Cabot Bordeaux Golf Course in France and New South Wales Golf Club in Australia.

The programme also lists Valderrama in Spain, Tokyo Golf Club in Japan, Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland, Kingsbarns in Scotland and Old Head of Kinsale in Ireland.

The available courses will vary by itinerary, with individual golf packages linked to the destinations visited during each sailing.

Azamara operates four ships: Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest, Azamara Pursuit and Azamara Onward. The cruise line’s itineraries include longer stays in port, overnight calls and Extended Destination Days of at least 10 hours.

Dondra Ritzenthaler, Chief Executive Officer of Azamara, said the partnership brings together two activities connected by exploration.

“Golf and travel have always shared a spirit of discovery,” Ritzenthaler said.

She added that working with Premier Golf would provide guests with access to recognised golfing destinations while travelling aboard Azamara’s smaller ships and spending longer periods in port.

PGA Professionals to join selected voyages

Each dedicated golf sailing will include an onboard PGA Professional, along with activities and events intended for participating golfers.

The onboard programme will feature welcome and farewell celebrations for golfers, lectures, talks and educational sessions focused on the sport.

Social gatherings will also be organised to connect guests with a shared interest in golf. Ashore, Premier Golf will arrange selected course experiences as part of the available packages.

Optional pre- and post-cruise resort programmes will extend the golf element beyond the sailing itself. These packages will allow guests to add further rounds and resort stays before embarking or after leaving the ship.

The partnership will therefore combine three elements: Azamara’s cruise itineraries, Premier Golf’s organised course access and golf-related programming aboard participating voyages.

Details of the individual sailings, their dates and the packages available on each cruise have not yet been released. Further information and bookings are expected to become available in the coming months.

Travel-advisor training added to Azamara World Academy

Azamara and Premier Golf will also introduce a dedicated Premier Golf chapter within the Azamara World Academy.

The chapter will provide travel advisors with specialised training, sales resources and tools related to the new golf cruise programme.

The initiative is intended to help advisors understand the structure of the sailings and promote them to golfers, PGA Professional groups, golf clubs and other clients interested in combining golf with cruise travel.

Premier Golf works with PGA Professionals to develop organised golf itineraries for their member groups. The company is also the official golf travel partner of the PGA of America.

Jason Vallee, Chief Operating Officer of Premier Golf, said: “The world’s greatest golf experiences deserve more than a few hours ashore.”

He said Azamara’s extended time in port would allow participants to spend more time in the destinations and courses included in Premier Golf’s programmes.

Vallee also identified the partnership as a new product for travel advisors who have previously worked with Premier Golf and whose clients may be interested in golf-focused cruise holidays.

Partnership combines cruising with organised course access

Premier Golf has more than 35 years of experience arranging golf travel, including programmes at resorts in North America, links courses across Britain and Ireland, international golf destinations and major sporting events.

Under the new agreement, that experience will be combined with Azamara’s four-ship fleet and destination-led itineraries.

Guests on selected cruises will be able to play courses arranged through Premier Golf while also taking part in golf-related activities aboard the ship.

The partnership will extend across several continents, with courses and experiences planned in Europe, Asia, the Americas, Australia and New Zealand.

Azamara and Premier Golf have not yet announced which ships will operate the first golf-focused departures or the number of sailings included in the initial programme.sition.
