MÁLAGA – 29 JUNE 2026 – Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas departed Málaga on 29 June for an exclusive four-night preview voyage to Rome, carrying international partners, travel-trade representatives and media, including delegates from the Middle East.
The sailing preceded the ship’s inaugural commercial voyage, which was scheduled to depart from Rome (Civitavecchia) on 4 July. Details of the Málaga call were confirmed by Málaga Cruise Port ahead of the vessel’s arrival.
First Call at Málaga
Legend of the Seas arrived at Cruise Terminal A in Málaga during the early hours of 29 June.
Local representatives presented a commemorative plaque to the ship’s captain later that day, marking the new Icon Class vessel’s first visit to the Spanish port.
Málaga Cruise Port made technical adjustments ahead of the call, including adapting its mobile boarding bridges to the ship’s specifications. The work was intended to support passenger embarkation and disembarkation at the terminal.
Preview Sailing Heads to Rome
The ship departed Málaga at approximately 10pm, beginning its four-night voyage to Rome. A fireworks display followed shortly after the departure and was visible from several locations along the Málaga coastline.
The preview sailing provided invited attendees with an opportunity to experience the ship before it entered commercial service.
Among the onboard experiences presented during the voyage were Royal Railway – Legend Station and Royal Caribbean’s production of Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Royal Railway – Legend Station is an immersive dining experience inspired by Marco Polo’s journeys along the Silk Routes. The production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was created for the ship’s Royal Theater.
Commercial Service to Follow
The preview voyage concluded in Rome ahead of the ship’s first revenue sailing.
Legend of the Seas was scheduled to enter commercial service from Civitavecchia on 4 July with a seven-night Western Mediterranean itinerary visiting destinations in Italy, France and Spain.
The vessel is the third ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon Class, joining Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. Royal Caribbean took delivery of the ship from Meyer Turku in Finland on 9 June 2026.
Legend of the Seas accommodates 5,610 guests at double occupancy and features eight neighbourhoods, seven pools, 10 whirlpools and more than 40 dining, bar and entertainment options.
