ROME – 4 JULY 2026 – Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas entered commercial service on 4 July, departing from Rome (Civitavecchia) on its inaugural seven-night Western Mediterranean voyage, as confirmed by the cruise line’s published schedule and independent reports of the sailing.
The departure opened the inaugural European season for Royal Caribbean’s third Icon Class ship following its delivery from Meyer Turku in June.
Inaugural Voyage Leaves Civitavecchia
The seven-night round-trip sailing was scheduled to call at La Spezia, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Marseille before returning to Civitavecchia on 11 July.
Royal Caribbean added the 4 July departure to the ship’s schedule in January 2026. It replaced the 11 July sailing as the ship’s inaugural voyage, moving the start of commercial operations forward by one week.
The inaugural sailing followed a four-night preview voyage from Málaga to Rome for international partners, travel-trade representatives and media.
Western Mediterranean Season Begins
Legend of the Seas will spend its first European season operating Western Mediterranean itineraries from Rome and Barcelona.
Subsequent seven-night itineraries include ports in Italy, France and Spain, with scheduled destinations including Naples, La Spezia, Marseille and Palma de Mallorca. The European deployment is due to continue until late October 2026.
The ship accommodates 5,610 guests at double occupancy and comprises eight neighbourhoods. It offers more than 40 dining, bar and entertainment options, alongside seven pools and 10 whirlpools.
Dining and Entertainment Programme
The vessel has 28 dining options, including Royal Railway – Legend Station, Hollywoodland Supper Club and the AquaDome Market food hall.
Royal Railway – Legend Station presents a dining experience inspired by Marco Polo’s travels along the Silk Routes. Hollywoodland Supper Club combines a multi-course menu with music and entertainment drawing on Hollywood’s earlier eras.
The entertainment programme includes Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in the Royal Theater, Shockwave in the AquaTheater and Fusion in the Absolute Zero ice arena.
Other onboard facilities include Category 6 waterpark, which has six waterslides, and Crown’s Edge, an attraction combining elements of a skywalk, ropes course and zip line.
The AquaDome operates as an enclosed daytime space and evening performance venue. The Hideaway features an infinity pool positioned above the ship’s stern, while The Pearl forms a structural and visual feature within the Royal Promenade.
Caribbean Deployment Scheduled
Legend of the Seas is scheduled to leave Europe on a 13-night transatlantic voyage from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale on 25 October.
Its North American programme will include six-night Western Caribbean and eight-night Southern Caribbean cruises from Port Everglades.
Scheduled destinations include Aruba, Curaçao, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas, depending on the itinerary.
Royal Caribbean took delivery of Legend of the Seas on 9 June following nearly two years of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. The ship joins Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas in the Icon Class.
