6 August 2026: Norwegian Cruise Line has cancelled Norwegian Sky’s final scheduled sailing under the cruise line’s brand. The voyage was due to depart from Piraeus, the port serving Athens, on 9 September 2026 and conclude in Muscat, Oman.
Sailing Removed from Norwegian Sky’s Programme
The cancelled itinerary was planned as Norwegian Sky’s farewell voyage with Norwegian Cruise Line before the ship begins a long-term charter with Cordelia Cruises.
The sailing was scheduled to begin in Greece and continue through the Eastern Mediterranean, the Suez Canal and the Red Sea before arriving in Oman. Its cancellation removes the planned Athens-to-Muscat voyage from Norwegian Sky’s scheduled programme.
Planned Calls Across Five Countries
After leaving Piraeus, Norwegian Sky was scheduled to visit Rhodes in Greece before continuing to Egypt for calls at Alexandria, Port Sokhna, Safaga and Sharm El Sheikh. The itinerary also included Aqaba in Jordan and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, followed by the final destination of Muscat. The voyage was due to include transits of the Suez Canal and the Red Sea as the ship travelled from the Mediterranean towards the Middle East.
Norwegian Sky Preparing for Cordelia Cruises Charter
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings announced in April 2025 that Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun would be chartered to India-based Cordelia Cruises under long-term agreements that include purchase options. The Norwegian Sky charter was anticipated to begin in 2026, with Norwegian Sun expected to follow in 2027. The agreements form part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ fleet optimisation programme. The charter will mark the end of Norwegian Sky’s service with Norwegian Cruise Line and the beginning of a new operating chapter with Cordelia Cruises. The cancelled Athens-to-Muscat sailing had been scheduled as the ship’s final voyage before that transition.
