SEATTLE – 27 August 2026 – Holland America Line has opened bookings for its 2028 Alaska season, with six ships offering cruises of seven to 18 days. New elements include a San Diego departure, first-time scenic cruising through Nootka Sound and the Alaska debut of the reimagined Oosterdam.
The 2028 programme will feature Oosterdam, Noordam, Eurodam, Koningsdam, Westerdam and Zaandam, sailing round trip from Seattle and Vancouver, between Vancouver and Whittier, and on a new voyage from San Diego to Vancouver.

Oosterdam to make Alaska debut
Oosterdam will make its Alaska debut following her transformation as the first ship to debut Holland America Evolution, the cruise line’s largest fleet investment in its 153-year history.
The ship will also serve as the primary ship for Holland America Line’s Alaska Cruisetours, combining cruises with overland exploration into Denali and the Yukon. Details and availability for 2028 Cruisetours will be announced later, while 2027 Alaska Cruisetours are available for booking now.
New features aboard Oosterdam will include purpose-built Solo Verandah staterooms, expansive new Bridgeview Suites with panoramic forward-facing views and the Grand Dutch Café. The transformation will also include refreshed staterooms and suites, updated guest spaces and enhancements inspired by the line’s Pinnacle Class ships.
Nootka Sound added to selected voyages
Selected Great Alaska Explorer and Great Bear Rainforest voyages will include scenic cruising through Nootka Sound for the first time in Holland America Line history.
A new 11-day California to Alaska: Shores, Fjords & Glaciers voyage aboard Zaandam will depart San Diego on 29 April 2028 and finish in Vancouver. Highlights include Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve, Juneau, Ketchikan, Wrangell, Klawock and Prince Rupert.
Longer itineraries expand choice
Noordam will operate two 14-day Great Alaska Explorer voyages round trip from Seattle, departing 4 June and 20 August 2028. The itineraries include Juneau, Ketchikan, Prince Rupert, Anchorage, Kodiak and Valdez, along with Hubbard Glacier, Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier and new scenic cruising through Nootka Sound.
Zaandam will sail an 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer voyage round trip from Vancouver on 13 September 2028. Oosterdam will operate a new 16-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer voyage round trip from Vancouver, departing 28 April 2028.
Seven-day options will remain part of the programme. Oosterdam and Eurodam will offer 36 Glacier Discovery departures between Vancouver and Whittier, while Koningsdam, Zaandam and Oosterdam will provide 46 Alaska Inside Passage departures round trip from Vancouver. Westerdam and Noordam will operate 45 Alaska Explorer departures round trip from Seattle.
Wildlife and destination programming
The 2028 season will continue Holland America Line’s Alaska Up Close programme, with onboard experts, National Park Service Rangers and Wildlife Experts. More than 200 shore excursions will be available, including whale watching and bear viewing.
The season will include visits to destinations such as Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, Dawes Glacier, Tracy Arm and College Fjord.
The line will also continue its Destination Dining programme in Alaska, including fresh Alaska seafood, Alaska Brunch, Alaska Seafood Boil, cocktails created with Sam Ross using glacial ice and Savour My Catch.
