PUNTA ARENAS, Chile, 15 September 2026: Antarctica21 has published its first Sustainability Report, establishing a measurable baseline for its environmental, social and economic impact during the 2025-26 fiscal year. According to the company’s official announcement, Antarctica21 plans to report its progress every season through 2033, the year of its 30th anniversary.
Titled “Ambassadors of the White Continent”, the report documents how Antarctica21 measured and managed its impact during the reporting period. The company says sustainability has been incorporated into its expedition and business operations since its first Antarctic air-cruise in 2003.
104 indicators establish the baseline
The report was prepared in accordance with GRI Universal Standards 2021 and incorporates SASB indicators applicable to the cruise sector. It covers 104 indicators aligned with Antarctica21’s Sustainability Policy, which includes a roadmap running through 2033.
The document establishes the baseline against which the company intends to measure future progress. It covers environmental, social and economic impact across Antarctica21’s expedition and business operations during the 2025-26 fiscal year. The reporting commitment extends through the 2033 season, coinciding with Antarctica21’s 30th anniversary. The company says the baseline will be used as it continues to develop its sustainability practices and track progress against the 2033 roadmap.
Carbon footprint offset and e-Fuels use continue
Antarctica21’s total carbon footprint of 6,878 tCO2e, from the 2025-26 season, measured across Scopes 1, 2, and 3, was fully offset through certified credits tied to renewable energy projects in Chile. The company also completed a second consecutive season operating its Zodiacs on e-Fuels. Antarctica21 identifies itself as the world’s first operator to use synthetic fuel in Antarctica. The report also records energy use at Explorers House, Antarctica21’s expedition centre in Punta Arenas. Solar panels supplied 44% of the building’s energy consumption during the reporting period.
Patagonia spending and workforce indicators reported
The report includes figures linked to Antarctica21’s operations in Chilean Patagonia. Businesses in the Magallanes Region accounted for 25.4% of all supplier spending during the season.
Within the organisation, 35% of leadership positions were held by people who built their careers at Antarctica21. The Antarctica21 Foundation reached 4,000 direct beneficiaries during the 2025-26 season.
“This new Sustainability Report is a tangible proof of our commitment to operating our expeditions and our business with excellence, responsibility, transparency, and a long-term vision,” said Verónica Peragallo, CEO of Antarctica21. “This is the beginning of a new chapter, one in which we will continue to learn, measure our impact, and raise our standards while meeting the responsibility of exploring one of the most extraordinary and sensitive places on the planet. For Antarctica21, beyond this report, sustainability is built every day by each member of our teams.”
Reporting planned through 2033
The report’s “Ambassadors of the White Continent” title reflects Antarctica21’s stated belief that people who travel to Antarctica can return with greater awareness and carry that perspective into their work, families and communities.
