Ultra-luxury hospitality brand Aman has confirmed that construction is underway on Amangati, the first vessel for its new maritime venture Aman at Sea, marking the company’s entry into the ultra-luxury yacht cruising sector.

According to information released through the company’s official press portal, the vessel is currently being built at the T. Mariotti S.p.A. shipyard in Genoa, Italy. The project represents Aman’s first move into the ocean cruise market and is expected to extend the brand’s signature resort philosophy onto the water.

The yacht is scheduled to debut in spring 2027, launching with an inaugural season in the Mediterranean before expanding to other regions in subsequent years. Aman at Sea has also indicated that the vessel will be available for private charter, reflecting the brand’s focus on personalised, highly exclusive travel experiences.

The Aman at Sea press room, which has been established to provide official updates on the project, confirms that Amangati will feature 47 suites accommodating up to 94 guests. Each suite is designed with a private terrace, reinforcing the intimate and spacious concept that the brand is known for across its global portfolio of luxury resorts.

More details about the vessel’s design and amenities are expected to be released as construction progresses. However, early descriptions provided through Aman’s trade information channels indicate that the yacht will prioritise privacy, space and wellness, key themes that define the brand’s land-based properties.

Industry sources note that T. Mariotti is widely recognised for building bespoke luxury cruise and expedition vessels, making the Genoa shipyard a natural partner for the project. The yard forms part of the Genova Industrie Navali (GIN) group, which has experience delivering highly specialised cruise ships for premium operators.

Shipbuilding information published by the yard indicates that Amangati is being constructed with dual-fuel capability, allowing the vessel to operate on marine gasoil and green methanol. This approach reflects the broader shift within the cruise industry towards lower-emission propulsion technologies as shipbuilders and operators seek to reduce environmental impact.

Beyond technical specifications, the vessel’s design is expected to reflect Aman’s distinctive aesthetic. Travel trade reports suggest that interiors will draw inspiration from the calm minimalism associated with Japanese ryokans, combining natural materials, generous outdoor spaces and large windows designed to maintain constant visual connection with the surrounding sea.

Public spaces onboard are anticipated to centre on wellness and relaxation, with plans expected to include an extensive Aman Spa, several dining venues and an aft beach-club style platform that provides direct access to the water.

The project has attracted considerable interest within the travel and cruise industries, particularly as the ultra-luxury yacht segment continues to expand globally. Operators are increasingly investing in smaller ships that offer a more personalised and destination-focused experience compared with large mainstream cruise vessels.

With capacity limited to fewer than 100 guests, Amangati will compete in the boutique yacht category alongside other high-end operators offering small-ship experiences tailored to affluent travellers seeking privacy and curated itineraries.

From a regional perspective, the project could also resonate strongly with high-net-worth travellers from the Middle East, a market that has shown growing interest in luxury expedition and yacht-style cruising. Aman already maintains a presence in the region through its luxury resort portfolio and continues to expand with new hospitality projects.

Industry observers note that Aman’s entry into the cruise sector mirrors a broader trend among luxury hospitality brands extending their offerings into the maritime space, aiming to provide a seamless experience between land and sea travel.

For now, the Aman at Sea press centre remains the primary source of confirmed information regarding the vessel’s development. The company has indicated that further announcements covering itineraries, onboard experiences and booking timelines will be released as the project moves closer to completion.

As construction continues at the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa, Amangati is already emerging as one of the most closely watched launches in the ultra-luxury cruise segment ahead of its planned Mediterranean debut in 2027.
