GENEVA, 24 August 2026: MSC Cruises has completed installation of a dragon sculpture aboard MSC World Asia as construction of the new flagship continues at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, France. According to the cruise line’s official press release, the installation marks a construction milestone ahead of the ship’s first Mediterranean cruises from 4 December 2026.
MSC World Asia is the third ship in MSC Cruises’ World Class series.
Sculpture installed above Outdoor World Promenade
Designed by Balich Wonder Studio, the stainless-steel dragon measures 39 feet in length and 11.4 feet in width. It is suspended 32 feet above the Outdoor World Promenade. The installation has a pearlescent white finish and incorporates nearly 700 mirrors, 1,312 feet of integrated strip lighting and more than 3,000 LED light points.
MSC Cruises has described the dragon as part of the design elements reflecting Asian culture, art and landscapes aboard MSC World Asia.

Mediterranean sailings from December 2026
MSC World Asia is scheduled to begin seven-night Mediterranean cruises on 4 December 2026. The itinerary will include Barcelona in Spain; Marseille in France; Genoa and Civitavecchia, for Rome, in Italy; Messina in Italy; and Valletta in Malta.
The cruise line has also announced dining, entertainment and family facilities aboard the vessel.
