MIAMI, 4 August 2026: Norwegian Cruise Line has released the first images of Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay, its private island in the Bahamas, ahead of the attraction’s official opening celebration on 4 September 2026. In its official announcement, the cruise line said the nearly six-acre waterpark will combine 19 waterslides, family facilities, dining venues and relaxation spaces.
Waterpark Attractions Span Nearly Six Acres
Great Tides Waterpark is being developed within the 270-acre island and will include The Wandering River, featuring an immersive tunnel experience, and The Great Slide, described as the Caribbean’s only four-person body slide.
Tidal Tower will house several waterslides, including the Breakwater Blasters. The duelling Master Blaster slides will propel riders uphill before taking them through drops and turns using high-pressure water jets. Cliffside Cove will feature cliff-jumping platforms positioned 10 and 15 feet above the water. Splash Cay will provide a dedicated family splash area, while other parts of the waterpark will offer additional activities for families and guests seeking higher-energy attractions. The island’s new two-berth pier is also officially open, providing direct access ashore at Great Stirrup Cay.
New Food and Beverage Venues Detailed
Several new food and beverage outlets will operate within the waterpark. Low Tide Smoke will serve barbecue dishes including pork riblets, nachos, chicken wings and crispy buffalo cauliflower. Catch of the Cay will offer seafood dishes such as crispy shrimp rolls, fried shrimp baskets and chilled seafood rolls, accompanied by seasoned waffle fries. Tidal Treats will serve desserts including sundaes presented in bubble waffle bowls and a tropical fish-shaped waffle cone. Complimentary buffet-style dining will also be available. Food truck menus will be offered à la carte.
The Grotto Bar will be located beneath The Great Slide at Cliffside Cove, overlooking the cliff-jumping area. Floataway Bar will be positioned within The Wandering River. Beverages at Great Stirrup Cay are included for guests with Norwegian Cruise Line’s Free at Sea unlimited beverage package.
Opening Scheduled During Norwegian Luna Sailing
“With just one month until the grand opening of Great Tides Waterpark, we’re excited to give guests a first look,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line.
Guests will be able to reserve private cabanas for up to six people within the waterpark, with admission included. Adult-only facilities will be available through Vibe Shore Club, which will offer premium loungers and a private bar for guests purchasing an all-day pass.
Other options across the island include poolside and beachfront cabanas and Silver Cove, which features a private beach, air-conditioned villas, a restaurant, an infinity pool and a spa.
Day Passes Available for September Calls
The official opening celebration will take place on 4 September during Norwegian Luna’s seven-day Caribbean voyage departing on 29 August 2026. Guests travelling on that sailing may purchase Great Tides Waterpark day passes.
Passes are now available for voyages calling at Great Stirrup Cay from September onwards. Guests can purchase them through their myNCL account after completing a cruise reservation. Norwegian Cruise Line said itineraries visiting Great Stirrup Cay will be available throughout the year.
